Faircloth Wins Mississippi River Rumble
SpiderWire Pro Claims Bassmaster Classic Berth and $100K
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Todd Faircloth earned his third BASS tournament victory this past weekend. The Jasper, Texas native weighed in 62-pounds, 4-ounces of fish during the four-day event on the Mississippi River. The SpiderWire pro cashed a $100,000 check for his winning effort. The low-profile baitcasting Revo reels were Faircloth’s choice for the Mississippi River Rumble BASS Elite Series event.
Not only claiming cash, the SpiderWire pro also punched his ticket to the 2013 Bassmaster Classic and moved himself closer to the Angler of the Year title. He currently rests in the number two position just behind Brent Chapman.
“The Angler of the Year race is on my mind now. I am so close to something that has eluded me thus far,” said Faircloth. “I believe that I can put it together to close the season out, and that is what I am looking to do. This tournament means a lot to me, but it is Angler of the Year that I want now.”
For the tournament, Faircloth was flipping a frog and punching shallow water. His primary lines were 50-pound SpiderWire Ultracast and Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon.
Faircloth continued, “The Ultracast really made a difference for me throughout the tournament. I was able to get the fish out of the shallow quickly and on to my next spot. It really makes a difference when you use line that is not only tough, but is also sensitive to feel to smallest bites.”
The next Elite Series event is set for June 28- July 1 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
